Can't Get Enough

If you haven't seen "Pants on the Ground" written and introduced to American Idol by the now famous Larry...well, you need to get up from under the rock you have been living under and you tube it.

This video is however for those who want a more classical redemption of the song, and it's freaking hilarious!

The sad part is that I could so hear this playing in the background during a tender scene of Grey's Anatomy, and NEVER realize what he is singing about is pants...on the ground.

Barbie: Not My Generation's Doll Anymore

Is it bad that I might be slightly jealous of the generation that gets to play with these new "Barbie Basics" dolls? I'm already waiting for the day when my soon to be three-year-old niece will find fascination with the toy. And what's even better is that today's doll comes with a huge arrange of fashion accessories. And it's always been my theory to teach them proper accessory techniques while they're still young.

In honor of Mattel's new launch of "Barbie Basic" dolls, 12 CFDA designers dressed Barbie in their designer duds to be auctioned off on Ebay. All proceeds will go toward the CFDA Foundation funding the organizations scholastic and educational programs. To bid on Ebay starting January 28 at 10 pm EST click here.

In any case, my answer is yes, the seven-year-old still stuck inside me would be jealous of the little girl or creepy Barbie collector who gets to play with these dolls. Or maybe it's my adult self that is jealous of the Barbies themselves for the beautiful clothes...

Either way, I would like to say thanks to Glamor Style and a favorite blog of mine, Pretty Lil' Things, for being able to bring you my three favorites.

The Kate Spade Barbie

The Tory Burch Barbie

And the ever playful Betsey Johnson Barbie

Shameless Self Promotion

Dears, I've finally been published for the whole world to see. Ok, ok, it's not exactly my first time to be published, but it is definitely the first time my personality has shown itself in my work.

I was first approached by the nice gentlemen of MemphisRoar.com to write for the female perspective on their website that covers University of Memphis Athletics and the Memphis Grizzlies basketball team. As an avid lover of basketball and anything U of M related, how could I say no?

And the best part is, I have a section humbly titled "Why My Coach is Hotter Than Your Coach."

Click here to check it out. Hope you enjoy it :)

Memphis Weather is such a TEASE

I don't know if it's this weather we are having in Memphis - people are wearing short sleeves and flip flops one day and layering jackets the next - but I am in a blog rut. I just don't get it...and you think having me living here all my life, I would.

Trust me, dear readers, I have PLENTY to blog about. What I'm missing is the energy to do it. Hopefully some consistent sunshine or maybe another glimpse of summer weather will put me in a blogging mood.

Until then, these Dior Glossies will just have to do.

Now where is the weather to wear the darn things?!

Warm Weather Wishes

I may bite my tongue later for saying this, but I'm wishing for some warmer weather right about now. As much as I dispise the cold like the next Southern girl, it's much easier upkeep during the winter to just hide layer behind my Patagonia and Uggs. As soon as a warm breeze blows through Mississippi, I'm instantly going to want a tanned, tone physique along with perfectly pedicured toes a bright shade of coral (hey, we can all wish).

Here's some of the things that are my influence for the perfect summer look:

Clockwise from Left: Tibi Maxi dress, Forever 21 bracelets, J. Crew top, J. Crew Skimmer pants, Tory Burch sandals, Mui Mui Gathered Leather Tote

I'm also in love with theTory Burch "Safo" tunic dress and a pair of her awesome Revas.

warm wishes to you,

Brushes on a Budget

You should already know by now of my huge adoration for MAC cosmetics. I've used this makeup line since high school, and it has yet to fail. Now while I cannot find a product that can duplicate MAC's high pigments and flashes of color, I have noticed that my brushes that I so poorly neglected desperately need replacing from all the years of daily use.

That's where I ran into a problem. I'm willing to spend high end for great makeup and makeup brushes, but with my lack for a job I would prefer to find great (i.e. cheaper) replacements for my tarnished brushes. And great replacements I did find at none other than my loyal superstore, TARGET.

Sonia Kashuk is something I tried on a whim when I had forgotten my eyeliner brush while in Mississippi (i.e. No where near a MAC counter), and I just keep going back for more. Currently I have these added to my brush collection:

The Smudge Brush

From my most recent purchase, these tiny compact hairs have the ability to smooth a harsh line of eyeliner or add small swipes of color in the eyelid crease.

The Foundation Brush 15
Most people I know don't own a foundation brush, but I've found this helps smooth a light buildable layer of foundation on my face without the continual rubbing of a makeup sponge.

The Flat Blusher Brush
Although Sonia herself will recommend using this tool for blush, I also mimic it's tight kabuki form for swirling powder on my t-zone or for setting my foundation.

The Dome Brush

Definately my favorite brush! This magic tool gets just enough color in my creases and I use the excess to blend on the entire lid. One swipe and you are done!

The Precision Eyeliner Brush

My first Sonia purchase. Creates clean lines with my favorite MAC gel liner.

And who said you had to spend $30 on one makeup brush?

How do you measure a year?

In daylights? In sunsets? In midnights? In cups of coffee? In inches? In miles? In laughter? In strife?
(In case you didn't catch on, that's a song from Rent.)

I personally measure my years by the number of blessings I receive. I've never been the best with keeping resolutions, but I find that I rather reach life's unexpected goals throughout the year, and  they can always count for somthing. Here are some of my wonderful blessings and goals reached from 2009:

1. Graduation

I can finally call myself a University of Memphis alumni! While I'll always have wonderful memories of this school, including the basketball games, interesting public relations classes and the awesome friends I made, I'm glad to finally finish this chapter in my life and move on to even bigger and better things...including the search for my first "big girl" job!

2. Phi Mu Alumnae

As with graduation, I have also "graduated" into alumnae status with my sorority, Phi Mu. Although we say that you are always a Phi Mu, it will be severly different come next semester when I'm not attending the weekly meetings, teaching something new to all the Phis, or going to another philanthopy event.

3. My Gran's Health

I could not thank the good Lord enough for such strength He has given my grandmother this past year. Diagnosed with cancer for the THIRD time in her life, she has shown great improvements with her medications. She is currently working with a drug that is new to the market, and from her last checkup in November her doctors are astonished with her results. They even went as far to call her a miracle!

4. My neice, Autumn Marie

As for other blessings, the healthy birth of my second niece, Autumn Marie, comes right to mind. She is currently 3 months and such a wonderfully content baby. I thought I also might mention that she in fact looks like me....blue eyes and all! (For anyone who doesn't know, my sister and brother-in-law and even my first niece, Ava Grace, all have brown eyes. Looks like she'll stick out just like I did as a kid!) I've added some more photos from a little Christmas photo shoot they had recently.

Resolutions, goals, blessings or not, I hope you and your loved ones all said fairwell to 2009 gracefully, and I can only hope for brighter futures for 2010!

xoxo,
